| Description | |||
| Mr. Calderon's students work at levels appropriate to their skills. His sudents pay close attention to building strong structures before moving on to programming. Structures are based on students' interests. | |||
| Procedure | |||
|
Junior 1- The students do not work with motors. The activity consists of classifying, recognizing the material and watching other designs of older students. Students are free to make what they want. |
|||
| Generally, the girls prefer building houses and boys prefer simple machines and car designs. We use photographs so that they can see their own designs, and then other students can make use of the pieces for a new project. In this way, the students don't feel their work was useless. The students simply need someone to watch them work. The teacher is like an observer, he gives time and attention. | |||

Car designs from Junior 1 |
|||
| Junior 2- The students start copying projects form LEGO/DACTA. There are instructions to follow step by step. Now it is time to give movement to their designs. | |||
|
In the picture below you can see a car which moves with an engine: backwards and forwards. Now the students are able to make movements, clicking on the screen where the interface is represented. |
|||
| It is not the right time for them to make programs, except for those students who have had extra training. If it is necessary, the students can write a simple program. | |||
| For Example: | |||
| TO CAR | |||
| tto motora | |||
| setright on | |||
| wait 30 | |||
| setleft | |||
| wait 30 | |||
| off | |||
| END | |||
| The car goes forward for 3 seconds and moves backwards in the same time. | |||
| The teacher, in this case, is like a consultant. From time to time students need to consult with others. Many times, the teacher can help the students by responding with questions. | |||
